How much does the WAT shower weigh?
The base weighs approximately 50 pounds. No other part weight more than 25 pounds.
How can I know if it will fit in my home or apartment?
The base needs a space about 4 by 6 feet. You will need to use one of our two ramps access to the barrier free entry. There is a 2 foot ramp, and a 4 foot fully A.D.A. compliant ramp at a very gentle slope.
A roll in shower typically has an acrylic, fiberglass or tile floor that is flush with the floor of the bathroom and then gradually slopes down so the water will drain appropriately. There are no barriers, such as a raised lip, to impede a person’s mobility or hinder wheelchair entry. The WAT shower and Arbor Grace shower are designed as a portable roll-in shower.
What are the dimensions of WAT Shower?
The base of the WAT shower is 45” x 60” x 4” tall and is the central component for the shower. Built into the base is the reservoir that will collect the water during a shower and hold the pumps that will pump the water out. The reservoir is rectangular with dimensions of 25” x 30” x 3.5” tall and is centered in the middle of base. The edges around the bottom curve inward all around at a 2 inch radius, which allows for the water to flow towards the center of the reservoir. Based upon the size of the reservoir, it can hold up to 8 gallons of water and house two pumps within the reservoir. Covering the reservoir is the lid which sits within the base and centered evenly with the reservoir. The dimensions for the lid is 27” x 32” x 0.25” thick and is held up by four square posts in the reservoir. These square posts are 3” x 3” x 3.5” and are four inches off the walls at each corner in the reservoir. To hold in the posts for the shower, square slots with grooves are extruded into the base at a depth of 3.25”. In addition, thin channels are placed along the top of the base between the post holes on the left, right, and back of the base. The walls of the shower slide into each channel and help prevent any water from leaking out from the bottom edges of the walls.
Does WAT retain water, or is it all pumped out?
It gets pumped out. The pump can easily handle the flow up any standard shower, so the reservoir under the base will not retain much water. Some standing water should be wiped out after regular use.
Is WAT Shower wheelchair accessible?
Our non-slip, detachable ramp complies with ADA standards and will ensure your safety coming in and out the shower. We have 2 foot and 4 foot versions at the same cost. We also have additional grab bars that can attach to the base and wall at extra cost.
We provide instructions for the occasional deeper cleaning, but it’s easy to wipe down after each use. There’s a disposable filter that occasionally needs replacing, and it’s shaped like a sponge and super cheap and easy to replace.
Can I use WAT Shower with a shower chair?
Of course! The ramp is detachable, so if you don’t need it, you can remove it and save some space.
Anyone who needs it! The goal for our company was to make the best product to support people who have difficulty accessing hygiene, or helping loved ones access hygiene. We want caregivers, and anyone with limited mobility to trust the WAT shower, at any age, in any situation, including large homes or small apartments.
Can WAT Shower be used with a caregiver?
Yes it can! It’s designed with caregiving in mind. The side walls of the shower are sliding blocks which allow for easy access to the person (or pet!).
The sloped floor will channel the water into a pump where it will empty the dirty water into any sink (up to 4 feet high) or tub.
Where does the water come from? Will it attach to my faucet?
The WAT Shower comes with a universal faucet attachment that allows you to shower wherever you have a faucet in your home.
How many pounds can the portable shower handle?
Rated at over 600 lbs and tested at up to 1000 lbs for 24 hours, WAT shower is able to support you and your wheelchair with ease.
